DH got a ..... YES!

Finally he's got it ...... his diploma ! Two weeks ago he didn't pass the exame and today he passed it with an A. I am so happy for him, you can imagine :-). He was very nervous the first time and the second time wasn't less ...... So, this morning I was running around my house, being busy doing nothing.... but now the tension is of my back and I am going to pack for the anual Alliance weekend away!

Six lovely girls in a bungalow in the woods with food (!), drinks (!), snacks (!!). new pj's :-), gala-outfits(!), photocamera's and lots, I mean LOTS of scrapbooksupplies (!!!!!). Last year we all brought our supplies (read: our intiar scrapbookrooms) so this year we are going to take less boxes (as we said .........). I am wondering what LESS means to all of us .......

Monday I'll be back and I'll tell you all about it then.
Soooooooo excited, soooooooooo looking forward to this it's like I am going on a schooltrip .....

Daniëlle, Corinne, Anita, Birgit and Kirsty here I come!!

Take care!!!

Port of Holland (Hoek van Holland)

Yesterday we went to the Port of Holland to see if the Nortsea was still 'angry' at the beach..... :

as you can see it was furious!
The weather was cold and very windy (as you can expect) we could lean into the wind... A great afternoon spent in natur's glory!

Last week I guestparented Femke again. I picked her up at school and her respons on my new hairdo (color is darker) was: "Why do you have THIS hair???" On which I asked if she likes it, she reponded: "I find it stupid (stom)" ..... Well as long as she is honest, I think I have to accept :-)

She is getting used to the thursday's Tante Bonnette is joining her and finds it fun 'doing things together'. We had a great time baking 'pepernoten' :

Femke making dough .................... Doesn't it look yummie ???

Later (when the pepernoten were ready) Femke decided to give some pepernoten away to the neighbours (everyone 2 .... ), save some for the 'juffies' at school (teachers) for tomorrow, save some for mommy and daddy but have to give 2 away to Eline's 'juffies' (at kindergarden). So when we picked up Eline, Femke ran into the room screeming "I backed pepernoten myself" !!!

Eline gave us her most beautiful smile when we walked in and she was happy to go home with us. Lately she is very into posing for the camera so that left me with these:

Isn't she beautiful?
Next weekend I am going to scrap at the Alliance anual scrap-weekend-away (friday till monday)with 5 scrapgirls, all away from home and being ourselves (not being a wife, mom, sitter, cook, or whatever 'normal' life is expecting from us) ..... so looking forward to it ! ! !
Okay I am off to prep some kits and organize what I 'HAVE TO' bring ........
Take CARE!!!

Today ...

I promissed yesterday to blog but suddenly I was feeling sick ... my hole bodysystem was running ... so I spend most of the day in the bathroom and in bed. This morning I felt better so here I am ...

I have been working for 3 days during the KreaDoe in Utrecht last week, at the booth of Dolls & Decorations. It is always fun to work at such a large show and with the people in the booth.
I treated myself with the QuicKutz Silhouette ... just installed it and now I have to figure out where to place it (near the computer ofcourse but there are a few other machines attached and the cords are not long enough...).

I have been in a episode of CreaTieV on SBS6 tv and a lot of people respond to that on email and during the KreaDoe. Great to hear that people liked me on tv (but were they objective ???) and even some girls saw that I lost weight :-). Eleven kilo's are gone, another 4 to 5 to go...
It's fun to go shopping at see that I lost two sizes ........ !

I want to pick up HSMS again and I have to be very creative for the workshops I give at Hobby van Eijk in Vianen. So I leave you with:

Take Care!!

That was a h*** of a job catching up. Glad I've done it.
Now it's time to catch up with all the other girls who probably made fabulous shots...
Tonight I am going to attend my first Photoshop course ... eager to see what they are going to teach me. I want to play around with Photoshop for ages but couldn't figure it out myself (who can ???). So, tonight Doritha and I are going to start unwrapping the mysteries of photoshop.....
Tomorrow I will be guestparenting Femke again, who now is OK with me picking her up at school and taking care of her. When I left last week she said: 'Tot volgende week !' Which means: see you next week!
This week no workshops, so I can scrapbook for myself (and ofcourse do some prep for coming ws).
As always I'll leave you with:
Take Care!!!

Finally ...

I can show you want I do like most ... thanks to HSMS!!

Kiss
AKA: Pucker up, swap spit, snog, tonsil tickling (tee hee). A show of affection by means of mouth to mouth contact. Go on, give us a kiss!

I confess: I cheat this one ... It was taken on our 25th anniversary (3 years ago) just before we arrived at our country and western (dance-)evening. We had a great weekend in the east of Holland with 40 of our dearest family and friends.

Have to go real quick now so ... I'll leave you with:
Take care and KISS!!

early bird (just today...)

Yes, I am early this morning, I don't know why but I am haha! I liked my day yesterday, did a lot of scrapping and played with Gesso..... even managed to make my own banner for "Jump into the unknown" (thought you had to have brains for that but ..... this was so easy.....!!)

This LO is all about my wrinkles..... The journaling is in dutch, the translation is:

Yes, yes ... my face in showing my wrinkles .....Every wrinkle made me wizer although the kid in me still speaks up!!!
Luckely I have NEVER suffered any serious illness, and I have never spend a night in the hospital.
MY LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.

Then I played with Gesso, new (and old) stamps, dabbers (sóóó love them) and a couple of cute pictures of Femke:

Todays prompt at HSMS is:

Print
To produce in large quantities by mechanical process. Find 'print' in your space today.

Well....that was an easy one ..... I walked down the stairs and there it was : PRINT in my space!

Yes, we are lucky the paper arrives IN the house... we don't have to get out and get it on our frontlawn (that is only 3 meters long :-).

Talk to yu'all tomorrow !
Take Care!!!

Catchin'up ...

We had a blast fridaynight with the Blue Man Group! My DH 'managed' to get us tickets on the 5th row. That was the last row that was supplied with (plastic) raincoats... I was happy that we were NOT on row 6 (haha) ... The first half an hour I sat down with my mouth open ... so amazed by the performance! I cannot tell what we saw because it was soooooo much ... the only thing I can say: "if you have the opportunity to see one of their shows, GO ... it is somuch FUN".

Saturday I went to Dolls & Decorations my favourite scrapbookstore! Had a nice talk with (the owner) Petra, helped some customers out with choosing "scrapstuff" and went home with some 'goodies'. When I came home I sat down and played with my new paper(s) will show tomorrow!

Sunday I had to work ... teaching 20 ladies how to use stamps in their scrapbookalbum. A lot of talking & teaching, everybody went home inspired by this class, so I went home happy!
DH made dinner which was great (we're on a diet and we ate fries, steak and salads....yummie).

So ..... that brings me to today : Have to catch up with HSMS.

Selfportrait saturday brings you this shot:

Still holding the camera myself ... have to go practice to make pics with using the tripod :-)

Well ..... sunday...... hmmmmm
SOS : 3
Show Off Sunday !!!Show us the best of your shots :)

I don't know if this is the best picture ever ... but I am sóóó proud of this XXL-Hibiscus ('winterhardy') in my garden, that I really what to show-off with it:

You might ask what this toothpick is doing there ... it is to show-off how BIG this flower is. The ruler is in cm ...... No,no: no inches haha!!

Today the HSMS prompt is:

Cake
A soft, sweet food. Find 'cake' in your space today
.....

... and that is FORBIDDEN in my house lately because of the dieting we're on! It is really going well since we don't buy all the good stuff (read: creams, chips, cheeses, etc.) anymore and just stick to the healthy foods! DH lost 11 kg and I lost almost (!!) 7 kg. But.......

I managed to find CAKE in my space today:

Going to be creative today ..... I will leave you with:
Take Care!

**edit** fiddled around with blogtemplate ...whatcha think better???worse??

Friday, September 7, 2007

Went on my bike to ...

make a picture for today's prompt at HSMS :

Talk
To converse or communicate. Show us 'talk' in your space today
.

Since I was 'home alone' all day there was no talk in my space ... I had to go out to make a shot...:

I went to the market which is every friday afternoon and saw (and heared) a lot of people 'talk', A mom with her little son, a husband and wife, two friends meeting spontaniously, mothers and daughters etc. When they saw me with my camera ..... there was a box full of quotationmarks above their heads...(who wouldn't ?). So a thanks to Anita and Kirsty for getting me of my b** and on my bike and gave me the excersize I so needed :-)

Tonight is going to be a great night (I hope) because my DH bought us tickets for the Blue Man Group ... we're on row 5 ... I heared that is NOT the comfort zone .... have to wear rainjackets....it is going to be some experience .....

No need of doing my hair, wear special clothing so I am going as ME and enjoy a special night with my darling!

I'll tell you tomorrow how it was ........

Leaving you with:

Take care!

Today will be a special day...

because I am going to be 'guestparent' to my 4-year-old (grant)niece Femke. She is the daughter of my niece Marjolein and every thursday afternoon I am going to pickup Femke from school. I am very excited to be part of her life by spending weekly one afternoon with her. This afternoon she wants to go to the 'hertjes' (deer) to feet them some bread. Then around 5 we are going to pickup her sister Eline and play a little till mommy and daddy come home from work!

I'll let you know what my experience will be.......

Today's HSMS:

Feast
A large meal or a plentiful supply, show us 'feast' in your space today.

Well.... in our household that is going to be a problem because we're on a diet (hihi) but I managed to make this shot of our dinner for tonight (I had to prepare it in advance because my DH works the nightshift and wanted to take dinner with him)

I'll leave you with lots of thanks for visiting my blog (I love all the comments) ans as always:

Take care!
EDIT:
Just came home from my first 'experience' as a 'guestparent'..... Femke ate all of her lunch today (she didn't eat her sandwiches the days before) and got this for it:
I am proud she managed to eat it all!! The rest of the afternoon was all about "trying out Tante Bonnette". Want this, don't want it, do this, I don't want you to do this etc. etc. At the end (when mommy and daddy came home) she said she had a great day! I hope that involves the afternoon with me ...............

Being creative today ...

This is soooo much FUN ... I am being creative for myself today. I always make lay-outs, minibooks etc. for workshops and (almost) never make something for ME.

Today I picked up my dabbers, posca pens and funny pictures and let the creative juices flowing ........

HSMS was really a challenge, but I took this shot for today's prompt,
Hold To grasp, carry or support with your hands

I've been grasped ... by little niece Eline !

I am going to be creative again and leave you with:

Take care!

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

thinking of ...

Thinking of us while you are on vacation, sending us a postcard (from all over the world) suits todays prompt at HSMS:

Thoughtful; Absorbed in or involving thought .

Take care !

Did what I had to do....

This morning I got it : energy to clean out my scraproom ! So I did...

It was on my back for months now and I couldn't get to it. Every day it bugged me and now it is (almost) done, I am a happy kid (and so proud I did it... while I had to do it so long ago :-)...you know that feeling?). Have to clean the windows, vacume the room and tidy up a little bit more and then it's ready to be photographed and to welcome others (then me).

Today's HSMS prompt is: Fall, to move downwards rapidly.

I think I have to cheat this time because I have this picture from last january, it happened in my backgarden:

It is not the most perfect picture, but the experience we had ... was enormous (so was the tree :-). It was an huge pinetree which was grown way to high for a cityhome backgarden. The firefighters had to come to chop it into pieces, the neighbourhood was all exited (so were we...)
Well I'll leave you with (as always):
Take care!

Sunny ..... Sunday!

This is my contribution to HSMS 'Showing of Sunday'. I so like this picture it shows serenity, love, comfort, protection, bonding ...

What do YOU see in this picture of Madelons hand and the foot of her 20 hours old sister Daphne ?

Yesterday I had a nice day promoting my workshops in Vianen. Many people came by to see what we offer in fall and several workshops are booked, so we're back at work!!
I'll leave you with a few pics of my 'table' yesterday ...
Well .... it's still sunny outside and my DH put my sunbed in the garden so I am off. Will check in tonight again!
Take care!!

after a hard days work ...

Just a quick note to show you what I did for HSMS on Self Portrait Saturday ...

Not as beautiful as Anita's and Kirsty's but hé ..... you can count every wrinkle (which they don't have :-) ...
Have a great saturday evening and
Take care!!

Great wheather for being creative ...

Today is a 'gray-sky-day' no rain, no shine....nothing, so good wheather to do some scrapbooking. I finished some LO's and a minibook for my workshops at Van Eijk in Vianen. Tomorrow will be a demonstration day, where I show my ideas for fall workshops. So I had to finish several projects ... pfffffttt. Now I have to prepare my demotable with al kinds of stuff.

I wanted to have a break and looked at HSMS what Anita and Kirsty came up with today ...

Hahaha the word is 'Chew'. I was wondering if I could ask my DH to model for me with his mouth full, chewing but unelse I want to have a misserable weekend I better NOT ask. So I had to be creative (well....that's what HSMS is all about isn't it?). I took a piece of chew(!)ing gum (helps me during my weightlost program...) and it hitted me :

Chew
To bite and grind with the teeth.

It took me a while to get the camera in the right settings but this came out...

I hope I have enough time tonight to scan my projects and put them up but if not, I promiss to show you later this weekend (probably sunday).

Okay, I am off doing some housework, groceries, cooking and preparing tomorrow!

Wish you all a happy weekend with lots of sunshine (if only in your hearts)!

Take care!

Dish . . . ?

HSMS today says : Dish : A shallow bowl or radio antenna. Find 'dish' in your space. Okay, dishes enough in the house... but this is a special one:

I got this for my 'birth'day in 1956 (back then nobody ever heard of radio antenna dishes hihi). I ate from this dish till I was old enough to go to highschool (I think). My mom didn't want to throw it away and she gave it to me when I got married (loooooooong time agoooooo). I didn't know why I kept it, since we don't have kids but today I now why I kept it (thanks to HSMS). It is on a picture now, só ready to get scrapbooked!!

Now we eat from different dishes (:-). Sunday's (X-mas etc) dishes are made by Wedgwood and called 'Edme plain'.

During weekdays we eat from these bright colored dishes.
Since we are not the kind of people who throw dishes at eachother (!!!) and we never drop them, they are still around for 10 years now...
They 'heard' a lot of stories ... every day at dinner we talk about our days (no, not me and the dishes....My DH and I!!)

Okay enough of the dishes ... going back to work again and see what creative thing(s??) come out of me today ...

The projects I was talking about yesterday is not ready yet but asap I'll show it!

Have a great day and...

take care!

The sun is shining...again

Today I feel much better then yesterday. With help from very special people around me, I made a decision that is going to change my attitude towards work. I decide that I am going to enjoy my freelance work more then I did for the last year. I was demanded to be creative in a way that wasn't mine and in the future I am only going to create that what I think is going to be ME !
I still think that scrapbooking is all about the story behind the picture, so journaling is more important on a lay-out then art. I will keep teaching scrapbooking in combination with journaling and let everybody tell their stories!
I start with this:

Today on HSMS is :
Cloud
A mass of water vapour. Show us 'cloud' in your space today.

This morning I opened the blog and looked at the word and directly to the sky ...... OOooohhh NOOooo ! No clouds today!

What a disappointment was for me was for everybody else a releaf (haha). I made myself a cup of coffee, wondered how to get a cloud on my SLR today, had a call with my friend Anita and all of a sudden : YYyyyeeesss ... Clouds!

So I took my camera and went to a nearby village and took this great sho, at least I am very cloud euhm proud of it!

Now you know what I mean with journaling .....

This afternoon I am going to be creative in my OWN way and I will show you later what I did...

In the mean time I wish you all a very sunny day and okay 1 cloud (to make a picture of).

Take care!

Can not resist adding this one:

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

August 28th

has been a special day all my life, at least the first 43 year of it.

It is the day my mom was born in 1922. In september 1999 she past away leaving me with good memories. Although I do miss her, I never regret her passing away because she was sick for several years and did her very best to stay as long as she could. Every life has its end ...
I know she is watching us (living our life) from above, sitting on her special cloud together with my dad(who passed away in august 1963).

Well ... life goes on and as I mentioned yesterday: I am joining Her Space, My Space (HSMS) and the today's picture has (something) to do with 'Apple',

so I was almost on my bike to go

to the supermarket to make a picture

of a stash of apple when I remembered

the Applesirop I have in my cubbards ...

so ..... here you go !

Want to leave you with good wishes for today and 'talk' again tomorrow !

Take care!

Monday, August 27, 2007

It has been way to long ....

that I wrote my blog..... appologies for that.
Now summer holidays are over and things are (going) back to normal I (will try) to update my blog more often, hihi.
I heard a lot about my friends 'Her Space My Space' blog and this morning I decided that this is going to be the time to join them. So later today I will show you what I made!
It is a great that Anita and Kirsty take time to inspire everybody with a word a day ... that you can make your photography-subject! Cool!
Well I am going outside to watch the Eneco-tour (cycling) coming by my house ...

Talk later
Take care !

Yes ....... I am still alive !

It has been a long time since I wrote my blog, not that I had nothing to write but ......... I was sooooo busy doing things that I just forgot to keep this blog up-to-date....

I am sorry when you visit time after time and there was nothing new here, but now I am going to fill you in about ALL the important things that happened in the last 6 weeks......

First of al: my hands are doing much better; no need to wear my braces continuously only when I am sleeping ( although that is a big period of the 24 hrs a day lasts, hihi).

Second: I went to Nova Scotia -canada- to see my DH playing the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo in Halifax.

Canada happens to be the country where my sister and BIL with their family live. When I was making arrangements to go there (back in october 2006) I thought it would be nice to meet my family there, so I asked them to come too. Not that I thought of the 2500 (!!) kms they have to drive (fly) to get there ...........

My niece, nephew, their 2 boys and my sister liked the idea so much that they made planes to come. Sister Coreen (who is the 2 boys Oma) took her 2 grandsons by plane to Halifax and dear Leanne and Steve DROVE the hole d... 2500 kms with their camper.

I arrived on saturday June 30 at 10pm with my rental car (a beauty with 44 kms on the meter) at the campground in Hubbards where Leanne and Steve just arrived 15 min earlier. Can you imagine to fly 6000 kms west, the other party drives 2500 kms east and you arrive almost at the same time? WE DID IT !

The next day (sunday) Oma arrived with Carter and Spencer, by plane in Halifax. Everybody was happy to meet again.

We spend a great week together in a cottage in Hubbards Beach, got a few days of rain but planed the in- and outside activities around the wheatherforcast and here again we did a great job :-)

The greatest of all was that we (all 6 of us) saw Oom Henk playing the Tattoo. We were the only family of the dutch band in the audience. We wore neon-light-necklaces so the players could see us in the dark (which they did....)

I had a great time with my family and DH had a good time although he had to work every morning and night.......

I will upload some cool pics later this week..... I got this awsome (300 mm with image stabilizer)lens for my camera (already for my birthday which is in 2 weeks) so be prepared........ haha.

These are the major things I wanted to join with you for now (still taking care of my wrists).....

Till soon... take care!!

Saturday, June 9, 2007

gettin' better

First I want to thank you all for the good wishes to get better.

While wearing the braces for 10 days now...I think (knock on wood) it's helping !!!
I am pleased, although it's like wearing wintergloves with 30 degrees celsius (pffftt), it's still better then surgery. I hope to get some more news next week, about the plan my doctor has when he sees the results of the tests...so I'll wait and see.

I am sooooooo happy with our airco these days ... and wonder how you are doing with the (sticky)heat lately???

I'll be back soon,
take care !!!

Monday, June 4, 2007

It's been a long time ...

Since I wrote my blog... I am sorry ! I have been taking some time of to rest my hands which are suffering from CTS (carpaal tunnel syndrom). My hands are still not recovered but now I wear braces to afix my wrists and it really helps. I don't want to get an other problem (wrists that are stiff) so I am still working out how/when to wear them (doctors told me to wear them 24 hrs) to get the total profit out of it.

Besides this (health) problem I am OK ! Did a lot of fun things during the last couple of months. Went to the Apenheul to see my 'family' (that was long before Bokito in Rotterdam teached us to be careful with making contact...), watched great sandsculptures in Scheveningen, went to the Libelle-week with my niece Marjolein, had a great day at Dolls&Decorations doing a 'make and take' with POSCA pens (luv'them!) and ofcourse I gave workshops at Hobby Van Eijk and Creatief met Foto's. So have been busy...

May 20st, my nice Berthe gave birth to a beautiful little girl and together with DH Barry they called her Daphne. Within 24 hrs I was there to take some (haha 250 !!) pictures, one of them was put on the birthnotes (you can imagine how proud I was about that !!).

The picture I love most, is where Daphne lays on her mommies arm and hand:

You know who inspired me to take this pic???

I'll be back soon to show some of my new work and to share more news (because there is !!)

Take care, please!

Photography is all I think of these days !

With the weather so beautiful everything looks so pretty in nature. The blossom in my magnoliatree has never been so pretty and longlasting as this year. We never planted the geraniums (Austrian hanging type) as early as we did this year.

We too, are a little bit out of the normal timescedule ... eating dinner in the garden for already 2 weeks, meat on the bbq every night, no 'time' to clean the house (the weather is too nice to be inside)...

Yesterday was Queensday with a wonderful orange sun (oranjezonnetje). We had (fun)company and DH had to make music with the band, twice. I enjoyed the sun in our garden, the hole day.

For a week I am busy looking through 350 pics I took from Grandma Visser (Zeist) and her 7 grandchildren. Besides that I have to sort out some (150 !!) pictures I took during the Crop-till-you-drop weekend and sent them to all the girls.
So ... I am busy with pictures ... it does not go very smooth because my hands are still sore (specially when I am working a lot...)but hopefully I get it all done by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Well, this is all for now .. gonna give my hands some rest .... (arghhhh)

Take care !

My hands are sore ...

Since 2 weeks I have terrible sore hands, was not capable of typing so that's why I didn't post! Thru bloodtests we know it's NOT reuma and (as you will understand) that's a relieve!!! What the soreness causes nowbody knows ... it's only guessing till I have an appointment with the neurologist (May). In the mean time I am trying to give my hands some rest ...

Luckely I have my camera which is a lightweight (!!!) and the weather is so beautifull in this time of year. I do a lot of practicing for my photocourse which I am enjoying more every day!

This week we had to choose a picture out of a magazine or paper. I saw this one in Zoom.nl and it intrigated me. I took the challenge of remaking it. I had to do it with a blanc skin man, I didn't have a black beauty for hands.....
DH is taking place as a model...He was soooo sweet to let me get him in the right position, tossing and turning his head, hands and fingers, giving directions to turn his eyes (No, not your head!!! haha).

I am pleased by the result and wondering what my teacher will say tomorrow..... What do you think?

Well, I am off to give my hand some rest (typing is not a good excercise).

Take care!

Happy EASTER everybody !!!

Easter stands for our door and I love this time of year. When I was a child I also got a new dress and new shoes for Easter. First time I could wear them was on sundaymorning when we walked to the church, I was so proud of being 'all new' and then in church we listened to the minister who told us about the new start we all could make because Jesus died to take our sins away.
New beginnings that's what Easter means for me.
Also nature is 'beginning' around now with lots of fragile flowers in the trees. I love the magnolia and almond blossomtree in our back yard:

Instead of buying new clothes and shoes for Easter (I kept that tradition for all my life) I treated myself with a new lens for my Canon EOS 400D. Yesterday I bought a 50mm 1.8 lens and boy, I am happy with this one. I immediately started playing around with it and it gives me so much joy to work with!!!

I decorated the house with a (porcelain) chicken and eggs and 50 tulips! The tulips have seen all corners of the room because I 'had to' make pictures with my new lens and wanted light doing it's job to my pictures......... :

And this one is to all of you wishing you

Enjoy the coming days and take care!

On my way to : Finding ME !

Okay .... I am on my way : here is the first spread I made to Corinne's workshop "Finding You".

This wasn't very hard to do because a few years ago I had to do something simular to this and that came out GOOD. The hardest part was choosing paper ;). I didn't use any embellishments because I wanted it to be ME (all done by myself). Ofcourse I bought the paper and pens the rest is handwriting and doodling. I 'had to' (hihi) use my CriCut tho, for the capitals !
Thanks to Birgit who took this beautiful picture in november last year.....
Take care!
